Art therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses the creative process of making art to improve a person’s mental, and emotional well-being. Art therapy also provides children with an easier way to express themselves since they are more naturally artistic and creative, and more comfortable using art than expressing emotions and feelings through words. The creative process involved in expressing one’s self artistically can: help bring suppressed emotions to the surface and resolve issues, achieve better self-awareness and self-esteem, find relief from stress or anxiety, deal with learning disorders, and receive treatment that is based on their existing strengths, weaknesses, interests, and concerns.
