Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy where a family is seen by a therapist in order to resolve any family issues or concerns that are affecting the family as a whole. A therapist conducts multiple sessions to help families deal with important issues that may interfere with the functioning of the family and the home environment. This type of therapy aims at enhancing communication between the individuals of the family, improving interpersonal connectedness , solving family problems, understanding and handling special family situations (for example, death, serious physical or mental illness, or child and adolescent issues), and creating a better functioning home environment.
