An Educational Assessment aims at understanding and improving students’ learning skills. It involves setting appropriate criteria and high standards for learning through systematically gathering, analyzing, and interpreting evidence to determine students’ abilities and skills. An Educational Assessment would assess children and adults who might be dealing with learning difficulties e.g. ADHD, ADD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia… It also aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of students in different areas of their development, such as; cognitive (intelligence), achievement (reading, writing, math…), emotional, social, language and physical abilities. In the assessment process, a number of different standardized tools and tests are used, all of which are widely used abroad particularly in USA and UK. Conclusions reached, will help families and professionals to provide the appropriate support and guidance needed for students. When adequate strategies are put in place to support students in their areas of need, this will promote confidence in their strengths and learning and thus improving their study skills.
